About
We are a Private Property Owners Association, operating under the provisions of Chapter 504A of the Code of Iowa (Non-Profit). It differs from other associations by allowing members to purchase their land, and they cannot rent their property. We are located within the property tax base of Jackson County. We have approximately 350 dues paying Association Members. Most of our property owners are seasonal, but over 125 members call Leisure Lake their home year around. We have an Executive Board, and several committees of Lake members that manage our budget & maintain our property.
The original dam was made in 1957, and Leisure Lake Property Owners Association became a Corporation in 1964. The land was a vision of Don Schwenker to be developed as “Schwenker Lake”. There was a lone cabin on the property owned by Tom Allen (some say it rests at the bottom of the current lake.) The lake currently is approximately 40 acres of water. No gas powered motors are allowed on the lake. (Electric motors only)
We have many species of fish including; small and large mouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, walleye, ring perch, and carp.
There are many amenities on the property such as; Horseshoes, Volleyball, Miniature Golf, Playground, Basketball Court, Parks, Beach, Pavilion, Kitchen, Shower/Bath Houses. Our road structure is private property, so owners can drive ATVs, Golf Carts, Scooters, and other small engine sport vehicles.
